ILM UK, like many charities, relies on fundraising events so that we can continue to provide the life-changing aid and charitable services that the communities we work with have come to depend on. From specific Islamic fundraising events through to non-faith related efforts, we wholeheartedly support our generous donors in whatever they choose to do to raise money for our vital appeals.

Whether you’re organising a fundraiser dinner, a willpower challenge or running a marathon, we will be cheering you on all the way! There are so many ways you can get involved and raise money for our appeals, but no matter how big or small the effort or how much is raised, every penny makes a difference.

If you’re looking for a new challenge and want to fundraise for one of our appeals, here are some tips and pieces of advice you might find useful or that you can draw motivation from.

Get the Community Involved

The great thing about fundraising is that as many or as few people can get involved as you like, but it does present a great opportunity to bring everyone together. Encourage your community to bond and organise a local fundraising event that everyone can get involved in. From street parties to sports days and talent shows, there are so many ways every member of your community can do their part and get together for a worthy cause. From the youngest to the oldest, everyone can get stuck in!

If you’re unsure as to what to do, you can make a poll online on a local community group on any popular social networking site, like Facebook, to see what people would like to do. You can also use this as an opportunity to figure out the best time to hold the event. If you go down the community fundraising route, make sure you give everyone enough notice so as many people can take part as possible.

Independent Fundraising

Lots of our supporters fundraise solo and raise lots of money independently by taking on mammoth challenges like marathons, triathlons and other physical feats. You don’t necessarily need lots of participants to raise lots of money; all you need is the right intention and a determination to make a difference.

Fundraising Ideas

Whether you're fundraising as part of a group or independently, here are just some of the ways you can raise money so we can continue our life-saving efforts in the most deprived communities in the world:

Bucket Collections – Shake your bucket and see what happens! You can go door to door or around your local city centre. No matter how much or how little people give, it all makes a difference.

Corporate Fundraising – From boat races to inflatable obstacle courses, there is so much your team at work can do to raise money. Not only will you help communities in need, but you will also get to strengthen your bond as a team.

Garage Sale – A garage sale is a low-effort way to raise money, and it also gets things you don’t want out of your house. A win-win!

Some other fundraising efforts include:

  • Non-uniform day
  • Fancy dress day
  • Bake sale
  • Talent show
  • Sponsored silence
  • Car washing

Whatever you choose to do for fundraising, it all makes a difference and you will be rewarded for your efforts by Allah (SWT).
