Rebuilding Pakistan

The floods in Pakistan have caused catastrophic destruction and affected the lives of more than 33 million people. Homes have been destroyed, agricultural land has been submerged, and countless livelihoods have been lost as a result of the disaster.

Rebuilding the Lives of the People of Pakistan after Historic Floods in 2022

In June 2022, Pakistan experienced a climate catastrophe with unprecedented flooding in many regions of the country. The torrential rain caused catastrophic flash floods that inundated more than one third of the nation, devastating lives and livelihoods.

The floods claimed the lives of more than 1,700 people, including over 640 children, and impacted the lives of more than 33 million people across the nation. An estimated 8 million people have been displaced, leading to a loss homes and livelihoods, the seasonal harsh weather in winter and summer poses a great threat to so many who have already lost everything in the floods.

ILM is working tirelessly to build homes for families who lost everything. Your donations can make a big difference in speeding up the process this Ramadan.

The devastating floods in Pakistan have wreaked havoc on Balochistan and Sindh, the two provinces worst affected by this natural disaster. The aftermath of the floods has resulted in widespread destruction of public infrastructure, with stagnant water posing a grave threat to inhabitants of these regions.

Fears are rising about the longer-term impact of the floods. There are hundreds of thousands of people who have been left without proper housing and shelter - making them highly vulnerable to the frigid temperatures and harsh conditions that come with the winter season or the unbearable heat from the sun in summer. These individuals are faced with a life-threatening situation, as their lack of protection leaves them.

There are many vulnerable people who don’t have any means of income. Elderly men and women, young children, and disabled people are amongst those who need your help urgently. Some of the most important things that the affected people require include:

  • Shelter
  • Food
  • Medical supplies
  • Clothing

Your generous donations are essential for providing shelter to families affected by the crisis. Constructed with consideration for inclusivity, the homes will offer an appropriate living space, a well-equipped kitchen, a bathroom with widened doors and a ramp to accommodate elderly individuals or persons with physical disabilities.

Working on the ground from even before the disaster, ILM has its teams on the ground, working hard to ensure that those affected by the floods can get back to a normal life as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, many were already living in poverty which has worsened the situation. Your donations are vital in order to ensure that we can keep working as quickly as possible to help rebuild the lives of affected Pakistanis.

ILM has been supporting families, individuals and disabled people throughout the region. Please support us by donating now.
