The last 10 nights of Ramadhan, though, hold even greater significance as this is when the Night of Power, or Laylat al-Qadr, falls.

It is widely believed that the Night of Power falls on the 27th night of Ramadhan, although some scholars claim that this could fall on the night of any of the odd numbers in the last 10 nights. For this reason, many Muslims choose to spread out their Zakat al-Fitr (Fitrana) charity donations across the last 10 nights of the month.

When do the Last 10 Nights of Ramadhan 2021 Fall?
Answer

In 2021, the 27th night of Ramadhan is expected to fall on Sunday 9th May, although this is subject to the sighting of the moon at the beginning of the lunar month. This will mean that the Night of Power could fall anywhere between Sunday 2nd May and Tuesday 11th May. ILM can ensure that your donation is spread across these 10 days if this is what you would prefer.

Why do Muslims Give Charity Over the Last 10 Nights of Ramadhan?
Answer

In Islam, it is believed that a donation made on the Night of Power is equal to giving every day for a thousand months (80 years) and, thus, the rewards and benefits are multiplied accordingly. The 27th night of Ramadhan is always the most popular time for Muslims to give charity for this reason.

Due to the ambiguity as to when Laylat al-Qadr occurs, as it could potentially fall on any of the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th and 29th nights, many choose to spread their payments across the last 10 nights. Through ILM, you can choose to spread your charity through our donations page to guarantee you will receive the multiplied rewards that come with it.

Donating Zakat al-Fitr

Zakat al-Fitr, or Fitrana, is an obligatory payment that must be made by all Muslims during the Holy month of Ramadhan before the Eid prayers begin. This is not to be confused with Zakat, which is also an obligatory payment that can be made at any point of the year, as long as the person qualifies to make the payment and has a personal wealth that exceeds the nisab threshold.

Both types of Zakat (Zakat al-Fitr and Zakat) can be paid during Ramadhan, with Muslims often choosing to give both during the last 10 nights of Ramadhan. All donations that are made will be put to good use through ILM, helping our amazing team of volunteers to distribute funds to those who are most in need, both domestically and around the world.

The Rewards of Donating on Laylat al-Qadr

As we have already touched upon, the rewards of making your donation are multiplied by that of a thousand months. As is written in the Holy Qur’an:

“SURELY, WE HAVE REVEALED TO YOU THE GRAND NIGHT, AND WHAT WILL MAKE YOU COMPREHEND WHAT THE GRAND NIGHT IS? THE GRAND NIGHT IS BETTER THAN A THOUSAND MONTHS. THE ANGELS AND THE SPIRIT DESCEND IN IT BY THE PERMISSION OF THEIR LORD FOR EVERY AFFAIR. PEACE! IT IS TILL THE BREAK OF THE MORNING.”

The 27th night, which is widely believed to be the auspicious Night of Power, is the most popular of the last 10 nights of Ramadhan for Muslims to make their donations.

How ILM Will Distribute Your Donations

ILM will distribute your donations accordingly as per your wishes, ensuring all those most deserving and in need receive supplies such as food, water and hygiene resources. When you make your donation, you can choose to support any of our appeals including Hifz Orphans and Little Angels.

Your kind donation will be distributed as per your wishes or, if you choose to make a general donation, we will add the funds to where they are most needed. Our team are unable to continue to support the thousands and millions of lives living in the most desperate of conditions without your support, and every penny is highly appreciated.

During the last 10 nights of Ramadhan 2021, we will be eagerly awaiting your donations as you mark this year’s Night of Power by giving charity in search of multiplied rewards and blessings. This will ensure that we can continue the work in Allah’s (SWT) name, providing essential supplies for our Muslim brothers and sisters around the world.
