The 6.8 magnitude earthquake was followed by 4.9 magnitude aftershocks that have devastated the lives over 4.5 million people, resulting in 2,000 deaths and thousands more injured. As rescue efforts continue, it is clear that these numbers are just the beginning of one of the deadliest tragedies to strike this region.
People lives have been torn apart by this disaster, and most of the death have come in the rural, hard to reach mountainous areas making the relief effort ever more vital.
